SCORM Cloud & WordPress: Integration in Action

Working with Rustici is great; they make it go. The speed and precision to which they respond to support and feature requests is world class, and several notches beyond the industry standard. The fact that they are awfully nice people is just icing on the cake.

Tackling the requirements

The flexibility of the WordPress architecture enables Aura to meet each client requirement- whether it’s an existing plug-in or developing against the open API. See how each was addressed:

Data Capture and Integration

The SCORM Cloud plug-in stores the trackable content and provides robust reporting right out of the box. The SCORM Cloud secure API has allowed Aura to a build a data integration environment that provides for cross-system process and data-flow between WordPress, SCORM Cloud, CRM and legacy LMS systems. Two key integrations are:

  • Client LMS (Saba)- Employees are automatically assigned to the appropriate training domain (WordPress subsite) based on their status in Saba. And if employees move to another business unit or leave the organization, their access can automatically be reassigned or deactivated.
  • Client CRM (Salesforce)- Similar to employee management, the data integration with Salesforce allows the client to pre-register external customers for product training. Course activity can then be tracked and reported back to Salesforce.
Customizable portals and segmentation

With thousands of themes and modern functionality, WordPress allows Aura to deliver great looking training sites designed to reflect the identity of each product. Each product group controls their own user experience and look and feel with the WordPress MultiSite/MultiUser (WMPU) feature. This allows each business unit to create unique training domains, while allowing the entire network of training sites to be centrally managed and administrated. In the client’s words, “doing our own thing…together.”

Engage learners and support collaboration

To enable social networking capabilities, Aura utilizes the BuddyPress plug-in. Now learners can see who’s online, chat, message, comment, and respond in the context of their training materials.

Simplify content management

WordPress makes it easy for the training team to manage their content. The SCORM Cloud plug-in extends this further with a seamless way to import and deliver SCORM content.

Manage learning from multiple environments

Aura supplements the WordPress+SCORM Cloud platform with a 3rd party plug-in to administer live, onsite training and events.
