“What does it do?”
The SCORM Assessment Engine is a tool that allows systems to create assessments that can be delivered in any SCORM or AICC based LMS.
Note: if SCORM Driver isn’t in the cards for you but you still want to create SCORM assessments/quizzes/tests/surveys, check out Quizzage.
“How do you create tests with it?”
The SCORM Assessment Engine does not have a user interface for creating tests. This is a tool to be used as a part of a system, or via an export mechanism. Tests are defined using an XML format available in the documentation. This format allows for dozens of options ranging from timed tests, to multiple choice questions, complete cosmetic customization.
“How do you take tests with it?”
The output of the SCORM Assessment Engine benefits from the same high levels of compatibility found in the SCORM Driver. It simply works well in so many LMSs.
The Assessment Engine handles all rendering of the test to the browser and provides options for delivering those questions to the learner. The options include:
- Multiple choice, multiple-multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blanks, and others
- Graded, ungraded, or survey style tests
- Time and attempt limits
- Allow or prevent question review, change, and retaking
- Include images, video, and other media
- Randomize question and/or answer order
- Explain individual answers or the entire question
- Display questions one per page or all together
